DIY Off-grid Tiny House
Step by step
Surely there are alternative ways to build and assemble a tiny house, but this is the way we did it. We are not professionals. We are just regular people, and that is precisely the point.
Level the land
This is where you start and although it's not ideal it can be done by hand. We talk about various techniques and how to level it in the most primitive of ways.
Build the foundation
We build our foundation ensuring the tiny house can be easily moved if necessary. Next we secure the floor boards, finally giving us a large workable space to assemble the rafters.
Trusses
Before we assemble the walls we build the trusses and set them off to the side. Once the walls are built and permanently fixed we will be giving up some of our working floor space, it will be less difficult to move the trusses around if we build them now..
Walls
We build then erect the walls, being sure to account for the placement of windows and doors.
Setting the trusses
One by one the roof takes shape as we set the trusses into place.
Sheething
Closing her in we apply sheathing to the walls and roof
It's a wrap
As in... time for a wrap. The whole house gets wrapped in a gorgeous green house wrap that was donated to us!
Attaching a porch
We build an attach a porch during a last minute change of plans before we head inside to carve out windows and doors.
Facia & Soffit
It's time to hand the soffit
Windows and doors
A router helps to easily carve out the windows and door from the plywood sheathing
Plumbing
Drill holes for the pluming in the bathroom and begin to do septic tank hole.
Septic tank
digging the septic tank hole and assembling the components so the attach to the house and exit in a djainfield.
Siding
The siding goes on!
